2 suspects in killing of Cavite traffic enforcer surrendered —police

Two suspects in the killing of traffic enforcer William Quiambao in Tanza, Cavite have surrendered to authorities, the Cavite Police Provincial Office said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Cavite Police said the suspects, identified as Joseph Llagas and Aries Carlos, surrendered to Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla through a barangay chairwoman at 10 a.m.

The two suspects were turned over to the custody of Tanza Municipal Police Station.

Citing reports, the police said that before the incident, Llagas was driving a motorcycle while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

Quiambao apprehended the suspect which led to a heated argument.

According to the police, Llagas supposedly shot Quiambao three times in the back of his head.

The incident was caught on video which has circulated around social media.

Quiambao and was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician in Tanza Specialist Medical Center.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available,” Cavite police chief Police Colonel Christopher Olazo said.

“The person who surrenders to authorities sends a strong message that lawbreakers will not be tolerated and that those responsible for such behavior will be held accountable for their actions,” he added. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
